I'm glad to see you're writing memoir and look forward to reading more, Jessica. I get where you're coming from with the need to write ... that path of healing. The quote by Joan Didion sums up the experience: "I write entirely to find out what I’m thinking, what I’m looking at, what I see and what it means. What I want and what I fear.” 🦋
You are both well-spoken and an amazing writer. When I was going through my divorce ten years ago, I wrote/journaled every day. For hours. I wrote daily until I had healed to the point where I could be among people again. We split 1/1/14 and I was at a retreat a few weeks later where you lead a workshop. I was barely functioning at that point.
"It wasn't so much a breakdown, as a break out." This lines speaks to me. Well, the entire pieces is powerful and speaks to me. I wrote a memoir titled, The BreakAway Girl-Secrets of a Tantric Yogi. The more I wrote, the more I realized that my sex and drug years was me trying to figure out who I was and where I belonged and so much more. With the writing I realized that there is something to this breaking away or break out, in order to break more deeply into myself.

Wow. I remember that workshop. I hope you’re still writing. 💕

Yes Paulette thank you! “In order to break more deeply into myself” exactly. Well said.
This. This is how every Sunday should begin. ☺️
I love your writing my friend. As you may have noticed from multiple restacks. 😂
